Two New Sets of Oars: Friends of Tufts Rowing

With the help of the Tufts Rowing community, we are raising $10,000 to buy the Men’s and Women’s crew teams two brand new sets of eight sweep oars. With the hard work of our alumni community and the commitment of the university, the Tufts Crew team has been fortunate enough to give its athletes phenomenal new boats in recent years. To help propel these athletes and their boats to victory though in coming years they also need oars. As oars are used they can lose their spring and overall competitive edge. With Tufts Crew squads competing on the highest national and international stages in recent years, we need to invest in them and give them the equipment they need for success.

Rowing at Tufts University is a formative experience and anyone who has been on the team can attest to that. Most rowers will say that they learned far more about themselves and the world around them while on the water than in the classroom. Waking up morning after morning at the crack of dawn, putting in hours at the gym, and giving your all while trusting unwaveringly in the people in the boat ahead and behind you instills a lot in a young person. Part of this amazing experience comes from the honor of competing next to opponent crews who have put in as much work as possible to be there right alongside you. Making the most of these experiences means having the best equipment possible so that you can compete with those worthy competitors and simultaneously make a great name for Tufts in doing so.
