Tufts Pulse is going to competition! We are Tufts' only competitive Indian Classical Dance Team, specializing in the South Indian dance styles of Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam.
We work incredibly hard during the school year to choreograph and put together our own pieces to showcase. These dances include both a fusion piece performed at on campus shows and off campus events (places like Wellesley College and Harvard University) and a classical competition piece that takes us around the nation. We also perform in the annual Tufts Association of South Asians Culture Show, allowing us to showcase our art form and celebrate South Asian culture on campus.
This team has traveled to many competitions since our founding in 2010. This year, we have been accepted into 3 competitions, of which we plan to attend 2. One is in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) at the end of February and the other is in California (L.A) in April. This is a huge accomplishment, as each competition can only choose 8 teams out of the national applicant pool to attend.
However, there are quite a few fees associated with these competitions. We are asking for your help to reduce the personal contribution for each team member! All contributions will go towards funding the team's trip (8 students) to L.A. and Pittsburgh, which includes registration fees, airfare, lodging, and food/transportation while there. We have worked diligently this year to put together a piece we are proud of and hope to share with the national circuit of Indian Classical Dance teams.
Every contribution you can make, regardless of amount, will be helpful in getting our wonderful team to competition.
Thank you to our parents, alumni, fans, and Tufts University for your support during our year, and thank you to you all in advance for helping us reach our goals. Go Jumbos!
This will contribute to the registration fee for one dancer for a competition!
This will cover the transportation for the competitions while we are there!
