The Unexpected Hardship Fund is for just this moment – when undergraduate students face unexpected crises that can be difficult to overcome without financial support.
To protect those among us who are most vulnerable to COVID-19, beginning March 25, Tufts’ courses will be conducted virtually for the remainder of the semester. Students will be leaving Tufts’ campuses within the next few days, and this is creating difficulties that together we need to manage.
Your gift can provide an undergraduate student with a plane ticket home, a ride to South Station, or funds to secure a storage space for belongings. The next wave of need will come when students return home and face loss of campus job income, the cost of medical care, remote learning internet needs, and replacing art materials that were readily available on campus, among other unexpected needs.
We don’t know the full extent of need to follow, but we know it will exceed $100,000 in the coming months.
Undergraduate students from Arts & Sciences, SMFA, and Engineering may submit a request for aid and receive immediate help.
This fund unites the Tufts family in extending support to all students experiencing unexpected needs at this time. We are proud to be a community where people think of the greater good in a moment of uncertainty.
Thank you for your care for your fellow Jumbos.
Students, please email FIRST@tufts.edu to request financial support from this fund.
