As we look back on our February crowdfunding campaign, several thoughts come to mind. Above all, we first want to say thank you, most especially to all our donors, but also to those who helped spread the word to their followers, community, or organization about our work. Without you, none of this would have been possible! Though we were not able to reach our end goal, we were incredibly moved by every donation we received. These donations will have a great impact on both our immediate and more long-term efforts.
First and foremost, these funds will help support the postage needed to send and receive trackers, which are the heart of what makes RecycleHealth run. Though postage may seem minor, without it we would not have RecycleHealth - we have trackers coming in and going out to locations all over the US almost every day! Since RecycleHealth's start, we've received over 1,000 trackers. That's a lot of mailing labels!
Additionally, though we have received so many trackers, many of them are missing accessories like chargers, or work perfectly except for a broken band. So that no tracker goes to waste, RecycleHealth replaces these broken or missing items before sending it to a new owner. Individually, accessories are low cost items, but add up when considered in bulk. Your donations help us maintain this practice.
Lastly, your donations will help support a new effort starting this summer. RecycleHealth is excited to share that we have teamed up with HutsForVets.org to supply trackers for veterans going through their program. HutsForVets, located in Colorado, accepts veterans who need help recovering from the stresses of war and who are having trouble adjusting to civilian life. These veterans spend a weekend in the summer hiking, experiencing nature, meditating, reflecting with other veterans, and talking through their lives and the obstacles they face. Now, RecycleHealth will be provide trackers to help emphasize and encourage the importance of physical activity in promoting positive mental health, and to provide a way for the veterans who go through the program to stay socially connected with each other after the program ends. Excitingly, your donations help facilitate this partnership. We are so grateful!
So again, RecycleHealth would like to say, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your support of our organization.
For those of you living in Boston with us, it all seems to come down to one word... Snow! But as you stay warm in your houses or apartments, looking out at that winter wonderland, we hope you can take a few minutes to help a good cause.
Though our crowdfunding has been off to a bit of a slow start, RecycleHealth believes in the work it's doing. Physical inactivity has been linked to so many negative health outcomes, be it high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, or even some cancers. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford gym memberships, workout classes, and wearable fitness tech. That's why we are working hard to get wearable activity trackers in the hands of those who need it most, including older adults with chronic diseases and veterans with PTSD.
Therefore, we wish to say two things:
1. Thank you so much to those who have donated and gotten RecycleHealth's crowdfunding off to a start.
2. Please, if you have not already, donate and spread the word about the work we are doing and our crowdfunding campaign.
RecycleHealth needs your help to make this a success. Only a few minutes out of your day will go a long way towards helping us reach our goals.
Thank you,
The RecycleHealth Team
It's Day 1 and we are excited to see we have already raised $425! Amazing! Many heartfelt thanks to our first 4 donors, who helped get this campaign officially started! We are early anticipating what the next month will bring, so stay tuned for future updates. And, as always, remember to #ShareTheHealth with #RecycleHealth!
Best,
The RecycleHealth Team
