This past fall, The DevTech Research Group launched the Early Childhood Technology (ECT) graduate certificate program in the department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University. This unique certificate program is designed for educators and practitioners working with young children in pre-kindergarten through second grade in diverse educational settings such as pre-schools, museums, libraries, and daycares. The program develops students' knowledge and skills in technology and engineering with a focus on playful coding, technology, and making in early childhood education.
In our launch year we have enrolled a full cohort of educators who are extremely pleased with the program. However, we were disheartened to hear from dozens of enthusiastic public school teachers who were highly qualified to participate, but who were unable to afford the tuition. Because this is a newly launched program, there are currently no funds available for scholarships or financial aid.
Our dream is to make opportunities available to teachers who can make an impact in their school or community through their participation in the ECT program. We know that women and minorities are still drastically underrepresented in many STEM fields. Research has shown that early learning interventions can play a role in addressing this gap. We hope that by reaching teachers who serve diverse populations of young children, this scholarship fund can have a broad impact.

Please show your support of the ECT program scholarship fund by making a donation to our crowdfunding campaign! 100% of donations received will go to providing scholarships and financial aid to qualified public school teachers who could not otherwise afford this training. Our goal is to raise $9,000: enough to provide full scholarships to two teachers to complete the ECT program. If we are able to surpass this goal, we will be able to provide financial aid to even more qualified teachers as well as provide them with robotics kits and other technologies that can support their work with children.
