Post-Campaign Update!

March 16, 2018

Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends of STOMP,

This semester, we have continued our work in forty-three classrooms in the local community. Our STOMP fellows have brought engaging, hands-on activities into the classroom including robotics, circuit building, and coding. Your donations have helped to make this possible. In addition to supporting sending STOMP fellows to classrooms, we have been able to develop new curriculum, provide workshops for STOMP fellows to improve their teaching, and purchase hands-on materials for more classrooms. To see your donations in action, check out some of the creative projects from this semester! http://blog.tuftsceeo.org/2018/03/13/post-campaign-update/

Thank you again so much for contributing to STOMP!  Your donation has helped STOMP bring more amazing engineering activities to the next generation of innovators.

Thanks,

STOMP

Thank you!

STOMP is happy to announce that not only did we meet our goal of $5000, we exceeded it by $170! We are so grateful for all of your support. Thank you to all parents, friends, alumni, teachers, students, and engineering enthusiasts who donated. This money helps sustain a program that means so much to Tufts students and the local community, and helps us fuel the the next generation’s ingenuity!

Thank you!!

We reached our goal, but there's still time!

December 13, 2017

STOMP is happy to announce that we met our goal of $5000! We are so grateful for all of your support. This money will allow us to continue to support curriculum design, lesson implementation, and professional development for our STOMP fellows throughout the year. These generous donations also support the purchase of materials, ensuring we can continue to bring fun, hands-on, project-based learning projects to K-8 students in the local area! We can’t wait to share these wonderful projects with our donors!

We may have reached our goal, but we still have 14 hours left in our campaign! Any additional donations are appreciated and will still help support this amazing program!

Thanks,

STOMP

Semester Update from a STOMP classroom!

December 04, 2017

If you are wondering what is going on in STOMP classrooms this semester, check out this semester update from STOMP Fellow Liz Moison!

When my partner, Libby, and I sat down to plan our curriculum this year, we decided we wanted to make our curriculum fun, relevant, and a little silly. With all of the superhero movies coming out, we thought it would be so much fun to do a superhero themed curriculum. Our first semester will be all about “building your superhero.” Each week, we’ll look at a new superhero and discuss the science behind what their powers are. How does Spider Man shoot his web with so much accuracy? How can Thor control lightning, and what is lightning made of? How does Cyborg’s mechanical body operate? The students in our fourth grade class will be learning about forces, projectiles, electricity and magnetism, circuits, robotics, and coding. For the end of our semester, they’ll design an insignia for their superhero, and laser cut it into a piece of wood to take home.

Our second semester is still in the works, but our general plan is, now that your superhero is built, they need to go out and save the city! We want to make sure the students understand the responsibility of being a superhero (and an engineer), so our second semester will be focused on helping people. We’ll use real life examples from all over the world, and have our super-engineers design and test solutions. Each week we’ll introduce a real-life superhero, in keeping with our theme of civic responsibility.

We've got about a week left in our crowdfunding campaign and are so close to meeting our goal! Thank you for your continued support!

#TuftsGivingTuesday

November 27, 2017

Hello Everyone!

We are currently crowdfunding for the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach’s largest outreach effort, STOMP (campaign page found here)! We will also be extending our deadline to December 13th in the hopes that we can meet our fundraising goal!

On #TuftsGivingTuesday, your gift will count double! Your donation will continue to support the CEEO’s efforts to bring engineering education to elementary and middle schools in the local community, but it will also be counted in the effort to get 5,000 people to give to Tufts--on #TuftsGivingTuesday-- to unlock a $500,000 challenge grant for Tufts.

Thank you!

STOMP

Halfway There!

November 13, 2017

A huge THANK YOU to those of you who have contributed so far. We have had students, staff, alumni, parents, friends, STOMP Teachers, and campus partners all donate to support our program, and we are so grateful!

We have already raised enough to support an entire semester of STOMP in one local classroom. Even if you cannot donate, or have already donated, you can continue to help us by sharing our Crowdfunding Campaign on social media to help us get the word out!

We appreciate you all!

Sincerely,

STOMP

We reached our 25% goal

November 07, 2017

We are so excited to announce that we have received 25% of our STOMP Crowdfunding Goal. With 25% of our goal we could:

  • Support one STOMP fellow for a semester

  • Pay for 2 Wednesday professional development meetings for the whole program!

  • Restock the materials in the closet (any maybe invest in some new technologies!)

  • And most importantly, help keep our program running!

Thank you to all for your contributions! We can’t believe the amount of support we are receiving from all of you.

Sincerely,

STOMP
